Introducing MiYOSMART iQ: A New Era in Myopia Control Has Arrived at Roberts &Brown Opticians

Myopia management has long been about slowing progression.

But what if we could go further?

With the introduction of HOYA MiYOSMART iQ spectacle lenses, that conversation is shifting in a meaningful and exciting way. Backed by compelling early clinical evidence, this next-generation innovation represents a significant step forward in how we care for children’s vision.

A Breakthrough in Clinical Performance

At just six months, children aged 4–12 wearing MiYOSMART iQ lenses showed no myopia progression on average, alongside minimal eye growth. Even more notably, clinical findings indicate that MiYOSMART iQ lenses are twice as effective as the original MiYOSMART lenses in controlling both axial elongation and myopia progression.

These results are groundbreaking and mark a turning point. For the first time, we are seeing outcomes that suggest we may not only slow myopia, but potentially hold it still.

Earlier Intervention, Greater Opportunity

One of the most important advancements with MiYOSMART iQ is its evaluation in younger children—as early as 4 years old. This opens the door to a more proactive, preventative approach to myopia care.

For families with a history of myopia, early intervention is key. MiYOSMART iQ can be introduced at the very first signs of myopia (as low as -0.25D)—and in some cases, even in children who are still plano but at high risk.

This shift toward earlier treatment represents a powerful opportunity: addressing myopia before it has the chance to meaningfully progress.

The Technology Behind the Advancement

MiYOSMART iQ builds on HOYA’s proven D.I.M.S. (Defocus Incorporated Multiple Segments) Technology, now enhanced with a Triple Enhanced Design (DIMS TED). This evolution introduces three key advancements:

  • A smaller central clear zone, bringing treatment zones closer to the visual axis

  • Increased defocus power, delivering a stronger signal to slow eye growth

  • An expanded treatment zone, ensuring consistent peripheral defocus across a wider field of vision—even in larger frames

Together, these refinements are designed to more consistently stimulate the near-peripheral retina, the area most responsive to myopia control signals.

Roberts and Brown Opticians is proud to be among a very select group of eyecare professionals with early access to MiYOSMART iQ lenses—well ahead of their wider release later this year.

This is more than just early adoption. It reflects a commitment to staying at the forefront of innovation and bringing the most advanced, evidence-based solutions directly to families in our care.

For parents navigating the challenges of childhood myopia, access to this level of technology now, before it becomes widely available, can make a meaningful difference, because early intervention is key.

Safe, Simple, and Designed for Real Life

While the science is impressive, the experience is seamless. MiYOSMART iQ lenses are also non-invasive, easy to adapt to, and supported by a strong safety profile, making them an ideal first-line option for myopia management.

Because the best myopia control solution is the one children will actually wear.

A Growing Need, A Stronger Solution

With childhood myopia rates rising globally, the need for effective intervention has never been greater. Since its launch in 2018, MiYOSMART has already helped millions of children worldwide. Now, with MiYOSMART iQ, that legacy continues—pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. This isn’t just an upgrade. It’s a shift in standard of care.

The Future Starts Now

MiYOSMART iQ represents over a decade of research, refinement, and commitment to children’s vision health. And now, it’s here at Roberts and Brown Opticians! We’re excited to bring this next chapter of myopia control to our community, early, thoughtfully, and with the experience fitting children that families trust.

Fit, Flexible, Functional and Fun Glasses for Kids!  NEW Nano Custom Fit 3.0

At Roberts & Brown Opticians, we’ve been fitting children in eyewear for over 35 years, and one thing has never changed: fit is everything, especially for growing faces. Glasses that don’t fit properly won’t just slip and slide; they can impact vision correction, comfort, and even whether a child wears them at all.

That’s why we're so excited that the NEW Nano Custom Fit 3.0 collection is now available in our shop’s expansive collection of children’s frames. Fit, Function, Flexibility and Fun colors that will excite parents and kids alike!

Why Fit Matters

Unlike adults, children’s facial features are constantly changing and growing. Fitting glasses on children requires special attention and care, because the consequences of poorly fitted glasses can result in:

  • Lenses sitting too low, distorting prescription effectiveness.

  • Frequent slipping, moving around or falling off during play,  leading to frustration and wear resistance.

  • Red marks or pressure points, especially on the nose and behind ears.

  • Poor positioning for myopia control lenses, which can compromise effectiveness.

The Nano Custom Fit 3.0 directly addresses these issues with anatomically adaptive features designed to grow with the child, while staying put through their most active moments.

What Sets Nano Custom Fit 3.0 Apart?

Adjustable Nose Pads for Growing Bridges

Children’s nasal bridges vary and develop over time. The built-in TPR nose pads on Nano 3.0 adjust in multiple directions to conform to each child’s unique nose shape, ensuring lenses are always aligned properly, prioritizing position and minimizing slippage.

Advanced 3.0 Hinge Construction

Kids are rough on their glasses, and standard hinges can break easily. The three-mold, dual-material hinge system in Nano 3.0 balances flexibility with stability, allowing slight adjustments without compromising structure.

Extendable Temples That Grow With Them

Essilor Stellest Lenses

Stellest: The newest solution for Myopia Control

Out of the Essilor Lab comes the new Stellest Lens, the latest and most successful solution for stabilizing your child’s myopia. Stellest lenses are a non-invasive way to correct vision whilst simultaneously slowing down the progression of myopia.

Myopia can have a major impact on your child's vision and life, and it can be permanent. More and more children are becoming myopic at a very young age, which increases their risk of developing high myopia and the risk of developing visual impairments as adults. Now, thanks to Essilor’s Stellest lenses, it is possible to control the progression of myopia. The earlier your child's myopia progression is controlled, the less impact it will have on their eyesight in the long run.

Essilor’s Stellest lenses slow down myopia progression by 67% on average, compared to single vision lenses, when worn 12 hours a day.

The Stellest lens employs H.A.L.T (Highly Aspheric Lenslet Target) technology developed by Essilor's research and development teams. The H.A.L.T. technology consists of a constellation of aspherical lenslets spread on 11 rings and was designed to create for the first time, a volume of signal that slows down the elongation of the eye.
