Myopia Management

Roberts & Brown Opticians is the place where children get their first pair of glasses. A pair of glasses is so much more than simply a visual aid. For many young wearers it is a treatment tool that can begin to shape their vision needs for a lifetime.

Glasses can be more than something to help you see clearly. With a new generation of lenses designed to reduce the progression of myopia, lenses can also be a treatment tool that can result in a lower prescription requirement and reduction of eye diseases directly related to myopia. later in life.

Our licensed Opticians are certified in the dispensing of lenses that help reduce the progression of myopia. We are available to answer your questions and develop a myopia treatment program specifically for your child.

ESSILOR Stellest lenses

Play, learn, read, discover, see the world… Did you know that more than 80%* of your child’s learning is done through their vision? Myopia can have a major impact on your child's vision and life, and it can be permanent. More and more children are becoming myopic at a very young age, which increases their risk of developing high myopia and the risk of developing visual impairments as adults. Now, thanks to Essilor Stellest lenses, it is possible to control the progression of myopia. The earlier your child's myopia progression is controlled, the less impact it will have on their eyesight in the long run. With Stellest lenses, see your children grow, not their myopia.

Essilor Stellest lenses slow down myopia progression by 67% on average, compared to single vision lenses, when worn 12 hours a day.

The Stellest lens employs H.A.L.T (Highly Aspheric Lenslet Target) technology developed by Essilor's research and development teams. The H.A.L.T. technology consists of a constellation of aspherical lenslets spread on 11 rings and was designed to create for the first time, a volume of signal that slows down the elongation of the eye.

Hoya Miyosmart lenses

Correct vision and treat myopia with MiyoSmart lenses. These lenses are an innovative spectacle lens for myopia control developed by Hoya together with its research collaborator. Based on a two-year clinical trial results, MiyoSmart is proven to curb myopia progression in children in average by 60%3 with its award-winning D.I.M.S. (Defocus Incorporated Multiple Segments) technology.

MiyoSmart with D.I.M.S. technology is comprised of a central optical zone for correcting refractive error and multiple defocus segments evenly surrounding the central zone (extending to the mid-periphery) of the lens to control myopia progression. This provides clear vision and myopic defocus simultaneously at all viewing distances.

Zeiss MyoVision Pro Lenses

We know that the anatomical and lifestyle needs of children, as well as their lens fitting parameters, may differ from those of adults. That’s why now is the time for the next generation of MyoVision ® Lenses by ZEISS, specially designed for children.

ZEISS MyoVision design applies the principles of Peripheral Defocus Management: the correction of the peripheral “hyperopic shift” affecting myopic eyes sends a signal to the eye to reduce the progression of eye elongation, which can result in the reduction of myopia progression.1

Available lens options include DuraVision Blue protect coating (Blue light protection) and/or PhotoFusion (Quick transitioning lenses from clear to dark when exposed to sun/UV)
